Foodbank is making a difference

Tesco_soupIn the first year of running Middleton Central Foodbank on behalf of local churches we have received a total of 16.75 tonnes of food donations (about 20 mini-metro’s) from the general public and a variety of local organisations, groups and businesses.

In the same period we have given out 12.7 tonnes of food in emergency crisis food parcels (15 Mini-metro’s), and if you are too young to know what a mini-metro is its was a small car like a Mazda 2 or Renault Clio.

MCFB first year of running donations and give away July 2015Another way of saying it is we have received 39,900 plates worth of food and have given away 30,400 plates worth, which is sadly a sign of the times and reflects the struggles and challenges that many everyday families face.

We know there is a bigger need out there and more that we can do.

If you are a group or organisation that works with people who may find themselves in crisis or struggling to feed themselves then please get in touch to explore being a referral agency.

If you are a local business that wants to make a difference to people in crisis then consider promoting regular collections amongst your workforce, every can really does make a difference to someone.

Thanks for the support; Middleton people are really generous!
