I want to say a BIG thanks to everyone at the Lighthouse Project. I had a great time there whilst looking for a new job. A Great time of help
When I first started volunteering at The Lighthouse Project, I had been out of work for 5 years. I felt I wanted to get back into work but was nervous and lacking in confidence. I thought that volunteering was a good way of developing my skills, getting experience of the working environment and giving me the confidence I needed to return to work. I have been using the Lighthouse Project for several years now Over this period of time it has proved to be a very good place to come. I use the internet and other IT facilities, and to study, which has helped me pass exams. Ged - I've started work
There is a selection of good things in the courses to help people do things and to help build up confidence. The staff and volunteers are very helpful and support us with CVs, job advice and different courses. The textile ‘Spin a Yarn’ course has been a very productive session with helpful staff.To everybody who comes to the Lighthouse Project the enjoyment received was excellent and learning screen printing was a godsend to me and the others in the class. Saahira - Enjoyed my time here
I became unemployed for the first time in my life in August of last year due to redundancy. I have worked for over 37 years so this was a very daunting experience for me. Carl, Carole, Liz and all the staff at the Lighthouse Project gave me confidence through the weekly workshops they run to apply for jobs. Whilst I was here to deliver a specific course for a local employer I found all the staff and volunteers extremely helpful & supportive. The facilities and service available were very useful for my delegates as it gave them access to ICT & printing as well as refreshments; these delegates are on benefits so the facilities and services were particularly beneficial to them.
