After 9 months of intense searching we are now able to announce that we are in advanced talks about securing a new, bigger and better, property to house the Lighthouse Project, Middleton Central foodbank and disability charity Middleton DIAL.
Charity boss Carl Roach says, “It is such a relief to be able to avoid having to break up or disperse our work, and it is definitely an answer to many people’s prayers that we have got such a fabulous space”.
“Throughout this time of uncertainty, following our notice to quit, we have always maintained that ‘we are moving and not closing’, and this new property means we will be able to retain all of our existing services and activities, as well as all of our partnerships with other organisations.
We will also be able to continue offering rooms for hire to local organisations for meetings and training, and even have capacity and space to develop more ideas and activities.
The new site is a former office and warehouse space at the entrance to the Cromer Mill estate, off Hilton Fold Lane, and it is prominently located and easily accessible by bus or on foot; in fact it is less than a mile from our current town centre base.
At the moment the deal is only a short-term arrangement which is linked to the owners being able to dispose of an attached 40,000 sq.ft. warehouse unit that fronts onto Hanson Point.
Agents for the owners have indicated that if a new tenant can be found for the warehouse then there would be opportunity to discuss longer term options for our part. So if you know of anyone who is looking for some well-presented warehouse, showroom and office space in Middleton then get in touch.
