Manchester Credit Union
Manchester Credit Union – drop-in sessions.
During the height of the credit crunch we hosted Manchester Credit Union for a season whilst they worked to grow support and provide local low cost financial services to people in the Middleton area. Latterly the service moved to another local in Middleton where they had improved opportunities to work with social housing providers and support local residents on their doorstep.

The financial pressures that families and individuals find themselves under in today’s society is increasing day-upon-day, and with the proposed changes to the way that benefits are to be paid, Council tax changes and the new ‘bedroom’ tax, things look set to become more challenging.
When it comes to money Credit Union’s have the edge. Here are 4 reasons why:
1. Flexible ways to save
- Encourages saving little and often, ideal for Christmas
- Can be better than Vouchers or Hamper schemes
- Easy access for withdrawals & deposits
2. Cheapest way to borrow
- Lower interest rates & more flexible terms
3. Ease of access
- Including 24 hour access via Paypoints & Post Offices for deposits and withdrawals
4. Safer than payday lenders & loan sharks
In these hard times there are many organisations that want to take advantage of the vulnerable and needy, Credit Unions are there to provide safer alternatives to loan sharks and other high cost alternatives.
Credit Unions are non-profit financial co-operatives that we intended to help you take control of your money by helping you to save, and offering cost effective ways of borrowing.
