Lighthouse Project goes to school
Well done Les – A+ for effort
Volunteer Les Griffiths visited St Michael’s C of E school to share about the work of the Lighthouse Project during their recent Harvest School Assembly.
The school had been collecting food items to take to the Mustard Tree charity in Manchester and collecting money to give a donation to the Church Urban Fund for its work tackling poverty. When the Lighthouse Project first got going it received a grant from the Church Urban Fund towards the building of the kitchen and coffee bar.
Les explained to the pupils how the Lighthouse Project helps and supports lots of different local people so that they can improve their lives. He also told them about his own volunteering work in the centre and at Who Let the dads out the monthly dads and children play group held in the Lighthouse.
The children and parents were impressed by his efforts and the scope of activities that the Lighthouse is providing, including playdays and childrens card making sessions during school holidays.
