Project has lot to offer the town
Project has a lot to offer the town
12th June 2008
I recently attended a presentation by Carl Roach of Inspire Middleton. His presentation focused on the Lighthouse Project that he is hoping to bring to Middleton.
The Lighthouse Project is a successful charity in the voluntary sector that creates access to social and educational opportunities for people who are socially excluded, thereby helping to regenerate communities. At present, it operates from five centres in the West Midlands, an area that in many ways has similar issues to those in Middleton, but is seeking to spread itself into other parts of the country.
I have to say that I found Carl’s presentation and an earlier on by the chief executive of the Lighthouse Project, Catherine Marshall, inspirational. It strikes me that charity and voluntary sector organisations with a proven track record, like the Lighthouse project have so much to offer to those who are socially disadvantaged.
I wish Carl and the Lighthouse Project every success and hope that they get great support across the Township from both the community and business.
